A group of dedicated community workers established the Sehhat Foundation (Regd.) in Dinyor (Gilgit) in the July of 2006 under the supervision of Agha Syed Ali Murtaza Zaidi. Hujjat-ul-Islam Syed Rahat Hussain Al-Hussaini inaugurated the Mother and Child Health (MCH) Center in Dinyor, Gilgit. Such a facility was a dire need of the local community and nearby areas. Initially, the Foundation started its operations in a rented space near the main Karakoram Highway. Now the Foundation has its own premises on the main Karakoram Highway in Dinyor.
Over these years, the Foundation further extended its services by creating Mother and Child Health (MCH) centers and conducting field visits in remote and hilly areas of Nagar, Hunza, Rahimabad, Ochkandas, Bagroat, Haramosh, etc. At the time of its establishment, one of the goals that the Foundation set for itself was to train a pool of nurses and midwifes who could then serve and promote health in the far and near areas. Alhamdolillah, by next year, the Foundation would have trained about 100 nurses for this purpose. Currently, most of those trained are already serving in their communities. |
